Style: palm print

style trend comment

Style: palm print | see all the picks at www.shoppingmycloset.com

How do you go to a tropical locale without leaving your home (unless you’re already living in the tropics)? Try the palm print! It’s a new trend that’s quickly replaced the pineapple trend of summer’s past. Whether you choose a dress, romper, top, or jacket the print can be found everywhere. So, why not pick up a piece (or two!) and get ready to lounge back in that beach chair and have a relaxing summer night!

Midi skirts can be intimidating to style due to their fullness and length. That’s what I used to think but it was before I played around with some key things that have now changed my mind. Whether you’re 4’10” or 5’10”, it’s all about balance. A few things I always try to adhere to are:
(1) pair the skirt with a neutral or a color that’s found on the skirt
(2) don’t let the skirt swallow you – define the waist by tucking in your top or pairing it with a crop top
(3) if the skirt is patterned, choose a neutral shoe to pair it with as to not compete
I love this look for work – it’s a good way to wear a more playful skirt but still look professional.

With temperatures going up, the last thing I’ll want to reach for are pants when going to work. Instead, it’s about this time that I’ll start wearing dresses on heavy rotation. But one thing to keep in mind is keep dresses work appropriate. I usually stay away from anything that’s not short sleeve or longer but that’s not always easy. So, I’ll usually opt for a lightweight cardigan or a blazer to keep things more professional. Then, when I step outside I can easily discard the outer layer and still keep cool.

For this stripe dress, I added a cute gold bow belt to highlight the waist, added a navy blazer, and paired it with black bow heels for the perfect work outfit. I can easily turn this day look into a nighttime look by getting rid of the blazer and belt, and add some cute earringss and a clutch.

Style trend: tie front shirt

style trend comment

Tie waist shirt | see all the picks at www.shoppingmycloset.com

I might have several shirts in the same color or print but each one is different because of the small details. The tie waist shirt is one such example. Yes, you can easily take a button down and tie the front tails together but it’s so much better when the tie is purposefully placed there. I love this option due to the its length and can easy see it paired with jeans or shorts or even a skirt. Check out some of other favorites below:
