Fall & holiday decor guide

gift guide, home, inspiration comment

Fall & holiday decor | see all the picks at

With Thanksgiving coming up in under 2 weeks, I usually like to change or add things to the house to really embrace the season. I usually opt for little details that add the holiday feel rather than changing out everything. Since storage space is limited, going for pieces that are seasonally appropriate (i.e being able to extend use during the fall and winter seasons), and possibly year-round, makes sense. I tend towards the minimalist (i.e white, hints of metallic) to spruce up a room or table. I’ve rounded up some picks that will add a little bit of flare to your decor below.

The table is always the center of holiday gatherings. I’m drawn to the swirls and glyphs of this table runner. The metallic accents would be well highlighted when put on top of a plain white tablecover. Minimal centerpieces would be required given the intricate nature of the table runner but opting for a few of these metallic pumpkins would add a nice touch. Give the table a contemporary feel with square dishes, gold flatware, and provide a place card by adding miniature white pumpkins with your guests names written on them.

Not having a sit down meal? Tapas or appetizers with drinks are always a hit. This gold bar cart is sure to make a sparkle and will be the central hub for all guests. Place these plates around the house to make various food stations. Set all your drinks on the bar cart and don’t forget to set these metallic drink markers by the glasses so your guests can write their names on it and you won’t have a case of “whose glass is this?”

With the exception of the table runner, appetizer plates, and pumpkins, everything else can be used year round for all your get-togethers. Talk about getting the most of your money!

1. Gold foil fall theme runner

2. Gold accent flatware {also, comes in rose gold color}

3. 4 piece stoneweare appetizer plates

4. Metallic accented pumpkin {lights up, too!}

5. Wine / drink markers

6. Gold bar cart

Tour through Blogland

inspiration comment

I was invited to partake in a little behind-the-scenes series called Tour Through Blogland by Lindsay author of Sequins and Style. It was sweet of her to consider me and if you haven’t already visited her blog, what are you waiting for? This series gives you a little insight into me and my blog. So, let’s get started…

1. What am I working on?
The question is what am i not working on? Aside from juggling a full time job and blogging, I’ve also been trying to balance this with my social life. Also, since the holidays are right around the corner, I’ve been starting to compile some gift ideas to work on (I try to gift practical or DIY items so it does take a little bit of planning on my end to make it happen). On the blogging side, I’ve recently partnered with a number of great companies and am looking to introduce them to you over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

2. How does my work differ from others in its genre?
Fashion can be interpreted in so many different ways and is such an individual style and choice. My husband and I try to challenge ourselves when taking photos of outfits by (1) finding unique locations and (2) creating different perspectives.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
Styling outfits gives me a creative outlet and through blogging I am able to share that with my readers. I’m really grateful that people actually read it (thank you)! I love to hear feedback from you and discover new blogs and styles.

4. How does my writing/creating process work?
I’m sure most of you have had the experience of waking up in the morning, taking a peek at your closet, and having that “I don’t have anything to wear” moment. On some days, when I’m especially rushed, I end up putting together an outfit that I’ll reflect on later in the day and think “why did I even think it looked good together?” Blogging has helped me think about my outfits ahead of time and pull together looks that are complementary and well-thought through.

Now onto our next featured blogger!

Jenna | Sincerely Jenna Marie

“Greetings! I’m Jenna, a Midwest born and raised 20-something, and I blog at Sincerely Jenna Marie about my “everday” outfits, shopping finds, and the occasional recipe, makeup tutorial, or personal anecdote. On my blog you’ll find outfits ranging from what I wear to the grocery store to my outfits for church, and I strive to keep it all practical, affordable, and approachable. I love layering, big earrings, plaid, flats, and any style borrowed from the boys. Outside of blogging, I work in the business technology sector, have the greatest husband and puppy ever, basically live on ethnic food, run, and watch far too much Food Network. Thanks for reading and I’d love for you to stop by my blog! xoxo”
