#flatlay Friday & weekend links

outfits, Round up comment

Happy Friday, friends! Often, outfits don’t make it to the blog, simply because of lack of time. I’ll be starting a new series with an inspiration outfit and also, finds from the week to help you unwind just in time for the weekend. So, without further ado…

This week’s finds…
• Just got these charcoal grey leggings in the mail and they are exactly what I have been wanting: thick, don’t stretch in a way that gives you diaper butt, and aren’t see through! A win-win all around.

• A knotted belt has been on my wishlist for awhile now. These two black and brown options (both under $17) are perfect for pants and also, defining the waistline with dresses and skirts.

• Banana Republic’s friends and family event is going on through Nov 6 (40% off entire purchase with code BRFAMILY). This dress mysteriously made it into my shopping cart…

• I’ve been making these 3 ingredient “cookies” for my toddler but stumbled across this apple cinnamon version that sounds oh-so-yummy

• The unofficial uniform of venture capitalists in Silicon Valley is the fleece vest

• Home decorating? Visualize that couch you have your eye on before you buy in your existing space

• Currently listening: Dirty John podcast – “Debra Newell is a successful interior designer. She meets John Meehan, a handsome man who seems to check all the boxes: attentive, available, just back from a year in Iraq with Doctors Without Borders. But her family doesn’t like John, and they get entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival.”

• One of the cutest sheep seen this Halloween

Plaid, no matter how small or large the checkbox, is having a moment this season. You’ve probably seen all the possibilities: pants, tops, blazers, coats, shoes, and dresses. These menswear-inspired pants are right on point for work and can easily transition to after hours (doesn’t hurt how much more expensive they look!). Change out the heels for some comfy tennis shoes and a moto jacket and instantly get a cool weekend look.

The hype: Nordstrom anniversary sale dissected + free $20 to spend + insider shopping tips

deals comment

Nordstrom anniversary sale 2017 | see all the details at

You may have heard about the infamous Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and thought to yourself “so what? It’s just another sale”. This sale differs from other sales because they are new arrivals for Fall 2017 – not an end of season sale. If the thought of shopping for cooler weather pieces is off-putting, think of it this way – you’re curating pieces you know you’ll need for the Fall without the impulse buying. I’m going to share with you some tips to help prepare you for one of the most fun shopping sales of the year!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale goes from July 13 through August 6. However, early access is available for Nordstrom cardholders from July 13 – July 21. You get EIGHT days to shop the sale before it’s open to everyone. If you don’t have a Nordstrom debit or credit card yet, apply here. You must be approved by July 9 to access the sale early. Plus, if you sign up now you can get $20 free to spend on the sale.

You’re probably asking if it’s worth it to get the early access? YES! The early bird gets the worm and this sale is just that. Popular items that are on sale are usually gone by the second or third day.

Items in all departments are put on sale so here’s a chance to get your hands on the newest pieces for a discounted price – a win-win in my book! Remember, once the sale ends, prices will go back up. Can’t figure out what size to get? Get both sizes. Don’t have your size? Get the item with any size. Why? Nordstrom offers free shipping both ways. If you’re debating between two sizes, you can return the one that doesn’t fit. If your size isn’t available, snag the item in an available size so you can take advantage of the sale price. Check back periodically to see if your size is in stock. When it is, you can do an even exchange and still take advantage of that sale price.

Look in your closet and decide what items you’ll need for the coming months. Keep in mind items that may be higher-priced. Those usually go fast so you’ll want to put them in your cart ASAP. You can preview a portion of the sale by taking a peek at the Nordstrom catalog. Last year, there was a lot of outerwear on sale and boots for the fall. Also, don’t forget the men and kids in your life who might need something from the sale!

One of my purchases last year was this coat for over $100 off and I wore it all winter long. Definitely a great investment!

If you’re itching to shop now, I went through the current items on sale and have some great finds below:

Stuart Weitzman OTK boots for 35% off {available in 5 colors}

Roll tab tunic {one of my closet staples – available in 8 colors}

V-neck tee {one of the softest tees I own}

Striped summer waist tie dress {40% off}

Jimmy Choo suede booties for 60% off

Fleece wrap cardigan under $40

Collarless black blazer for 40% off

Eliza J crossover top {I just ordered this to pair with my many skirts!}
