Black turtleneck {5 colors} | plaid trousers

I’ve been looking for a plain black turtleneck. This one fit the criteria but was a little itchy (due to the wool) – might need to soften it. The plaid pants were so cute with the button details on the leg

Pink ribbed knit button detail dress | see the details on www.shoppingmycloset.com

Pink knit ribbed button detail dress

I bought this dress in navy but wanted to see how the pink one looked. It’s really pretty!

Navy tank dress | see the details on www.shoppingmycloset.com

Navy ruched sleeveless tank dress {9 colors} // (long sleeve version here {7 colors})

This dress has over 1,100 reviews! I’m going to add my positive rating for it, too. It’s meant to be fitted – I went with a small. The medium had too much fabric at the waist so it wasn’t flattering.

Rolled mockneck sweater | see the details on www.shoppingmycloset.com

Beige rolled neck sweater (here or here)

I slipped into this sweater and it was remarkably soft. Definitely a must if you’re looking for a mockneck sweater

Lavender bell tie sleeve sweater | see the details on www.shoppingmycloset.com

Lavender bell tie sleeve sweater {5 colors}

A nice twist to a simple sweater without the sleeves being too over the top. I love the soft, romantic purple color

Pink quilted moto bomber jacket | see the details on www.shoppingmycloset.com

Blush pink jacquard/quilted moto bomber jacket (here or here)

Because everyone needs a moto jacket…this one has a cute quilted detail that still looks quite sophisticated

Fuschia pink oversized sweater | see the details on www.shoppingmycloset.com

Fuschia oversized sweater

This sweater is perfect if you want to be in a cocoon from the cold. The perfect a-little-too-long sleeves along with the high neck. Great for lounging (or at least pretending if you’re wearing it to work).

The hype: Nordstrom anniversary sale dissected + free $20 to spend + insider shopping tips

deals comment

Nordstrom anniversary sale 2017 | see all the details at www.shoppingmycloset.com

You may have heard about the infamous Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and thought to yourself “so what? It’s just another sale”. This sale differs from other sales because they are new arrivals for Fall 2017 – not an end of season sale. If the thought of shopping for cooler weather pieces is off-putting, think of it this way – you’re curating pieces you know you’ll need for the Fall without the impulse buying. I’m going to share with you some tips to help prepare you for one of the most fun shopping sales of the year!

EARLY ACCESS
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale goes from July 13 through August 6. However, early access is available for Nordstrom cardholders from July 13 – July 21. You get EIGHT days to shop the sale before it’s open to everyone. If you don’t have a Nordstrom debit or credit card yet, apply here. You must be approved by July 9 to access the sale early. Plus, if you sign up now you can get $20 free to spend on the sale.

You’re probably asking if it’s worth it to get the early access? YES! The early bird gets the worm and this sale is just that. Popular items that are on sale are usually gone by the second or third day.

PRICING
Items in all departments are put on sale so here’s a chance to get your hands on the newest pieces for a discounted price – a win-win in my book! Remember, once the sale ends, prices will go back up. Can’t figure out what size to get? Get both sizes. Don’t have your size? Get the item with any size. Why? Nordstrom offers free shipping both ways. If you’re debating between two sizes, you can return the one that doesn’t fit. If your size isn’t available, snag the item in an available size so you can take advantage of the sale price. Check back periodically to see if your size is in stock. When it is, you can do an even exchange and still take advantage of that sale price.

CURATE
Look in your closet and decide what items you’ll need for the coming months. Keep in mind items that may be higher-priced. Those usually go fast so you’ll want to put them in your cart ASAP. You can preview a portion of the sale by taking a peek at the Nordstrom catalog. Last year, there was a lot of outerwear on sale and boots for the fall. Also, don’t forget the men and kids in your life who might need something from the sale!

One of my purchases last year was this coat for over $100 off and I wore it all winter long. Definitely a great investment!

If you’re itching to shop now, I went through the current items on sale and have some great finds below:

Stuart Weitzman OTK boots for 35% off {available in 5 colors}

Roll tab tunic {one of my closet staples – available in 8 colors}

V-neck tee {one of the softest tees I own}

Striped summer waist tie dress {40% off}

Jimmy Choo suede booties for 60% off

null

Fleece wrap cardigan under $40

Collarless black blazer for 40% off

Eliza J crossover top {I just ordered this to pair with my many skirts!}
